Against a backdrop of changing resources for development and humanitarian assistance, strengthening multilateral cooperation has become increasingly important in addressing issues affecting children and communities. The workshop was organized to further consolidate and deepen partnerships among central and local authorities, international organizations, social organizations, the private sector and development partners; foster mutual understanding; and promote the sharing of lessons learned, good practices and coordinated action towards more flexible and effective cooperation models. These efforts are expected to contribute to the holistic development of children and support the achievement of the country’s sustainable growth objectives.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huong, Country Representative of Save the Children International in Viet Nam, delivers her remarks at the workshop.
The workshop featured three main discussion sessions. The first reviewed the results of cooperation between Save the Children and its partners during the 2022–2026 period and provided an opportunity to learn about the Draft National Strategy on Child Development for 2026–2035, with a vision to 2045.

The second session featured local authorities and partner organizations sharing practical experiences, identifying key factors behind effective partnerships, and discussing their expectations for Save the Children’s role in the new phase. The partnership between Dak Lak Province and Save the Children was also presented as a representative model for examining good practices, approaches that could be replicated in other localities, and areas for further improvement in the coming years.

The third session focused on the development financing landscape in Viet Nam and globally, the need to diversify resources for children, and emerging cooperation models. Representatives of government agencies, local authorities, social organizations, businesses and development partners exchanged views on the roles of different stakeholders, measures to strengthen coordination, and ways to improve the management and implementation of programmes in the coming period.
An important component of the workshop was “The Voices of Children in Dak Lak”, which provided local children with an opportunity to share their needs and expectations regarding issues of concern to young people. Their contributions helped delegates gain a clearer understanding of priorities and potential solutions from the children’s own perspectives.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, highly appreciated Save the Children International’s contributions over the years to Viet Nam as a whole and Dak Lak Province in particular, through programmes on child protection, education, healthcare, nutrition, disaster risk reduction and humanitarian assistance. He reaffirmed that the province would continue to create favourable conditions for cooperation programmes to be implemented in compliance with regulations and in an effective manner, delivering tangible benefits to communities. He also expressed his hope that the workshop would generate new initiatives and cooperation opportunities for programmes and projects benefiting children and communities in the years ahead.
In her remarks, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huong, Country Representative of Save the Children International in Viet Nam, thanked Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee for its partnership in organizing the workshop. She emphasized that sustainable development outcomes are always rooted in meaningful partnerships among government agencies, communities, businesses and social organizations. According to her, the workshop not only reviewed achievements in cooperation but also sought to identify new priorities for children during the 2026–2035 period, share lessons learned, discuss resource mobilization models, and listen to children’s voices in the development and implementation of programmes.
“I believe this is the time for us to accelerate the shift from a mindset of ‘traditional funding’ towards ‘investing in impact’. By effectively bringing together the policy expertise, technical knowledge, technology, networks and financial resources of all stakeholders, we can achieve greater and more sustainable results and create more opportunities for children,” said Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huong, Country Representative of Save the Children Viet Nam.

Representatives of central ministries and agencies, Save the Children’s partner organizations in provinces and cities across Viet Nam, social organizations, professional associations, the private sector, and local children attend the workshop.
Also as part of the workshop, in the presence of leaders of Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, representatives of central ministries and agencies, and partner organizations, the Country Representative of Save the Children Viet Nam presented funding commitment letters for two new projects in Dak Lak, with a combined value of approximately VND 41 billion.
The two projects are “Strengthening Early Warning Systems and Disaster Preparedness in Viet Nam”, valued at nearly VND 32 billion, and “Strengthening Capacity and Promoting Child Protection Practices in Coffee Production – Phase III”, valued at approximately VND 9 billion. These projects will contribute to enhancing disaster resilience, promoting responsible agricultural production and safeguarding children’s rights in the province.
The outcomes of the workshop discussions are expected to strengthen cooperation among government agencies, domestic and international organizations, and the private sector, while promoting the mobilization, management and effective use of resources for sustainable development and the well-being of children and communities.
